The Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour (2026/2027) from Kathmandu takes you into the Khumbu region in a single morning. The flight passes over Lukla and Namche Bazaar before reaching the high mountain landscape around Everest. A journey that normally requires around 12 to 14 days of trekking can be covered by helicopter within a few hours, making the tour a practical option for travelers who cannot commit to a multi-day trek.
Most flights include a landing at Kala Patthar (5,545 m), one of the best viewpoints for seeing Mount Everest and the surrounding peaks. From here, you can see Everest (8,848.86 m), Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam across the Khumbu landscape. The helicopter then continues to Hotel Everest View in Syangboche, where passengers can stop for breakfast with views of the Himalayan range before returning to Kathmandu.
The tour suits travelers with limited time, people who prefer not to undertake a high-altitude trek, and previous Everest trekkers who want to revisit the region from a different perspective. Nepal Himalayas Trekking can arrange private and group flights according to availability, with the itinerary and arrangements discussed before departure.
The Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour offers a practical way to experience the Everest region when you do not have two weeks available for a trek. The 4–5 hour flight from Kathmandu takes you over the hills and valleys of central Nepal and into the Khumbu, with views of Mount Everest, Everest Base Camp, Kala Patthar, the Khumbu Glacier, and the surrounding Himalayan peaks. The flight usually includes a landing at Kala Patthar at 5,545 meters, where the high-altitude landscape and the enormous walls of Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse come into view.
For travelers who want to see the Everest region without spending days on the trail, the helicopter makes the journey possible within a single morning. The route passes over Lukla and follows the Khumbu Valley towards the high mountains, offering views that would otherwise require several days of trekking to reach.
The Khumbu has a long connection with Himalayan mountaineering and is home to Sherpa communities, Buddhist monasteries, glaciers, and villages scattered along the trekking routes. A conventional trek from Kathmandu to Everest Base Camp generally takes around 12 to 14 days, including acclimatization. By helicopter, the same region can be reached within a few hours, allowing visitors to see the landscape from both above and at high altitude.
For people with limited time, the tour provides a straightforward way to see Mount Everest and the surrounding Khumbu landscape. It also offers a different perspective from trekking, particularly during the flight over the glacier valleys and high Himalayan passes before reaching Kala Patthar.

Kala Patthar, Everest views, Hotel Everest View breakfast |
It's a scenic charter flight from Kathmandu that reaches the Everest region in under two hours of flying time, covering in a morning what normally takes trekkers 12 to 14 days on foot. Most packages include a landing at Kala Patthar and a breakfast stop at Hotel Everest View before the helicopter returns to Kathmandu.
The route takes you over Namche Bazaar, the main Sherpa settlement of the Khumbu at 3,440 meters, and across the upper valleys surrounding the Khumbu Glacier. Seen from the helicopter, the scale of the landscape is quite different from the trail, with villages, glaciers, ridgelines, and high peaks appearing together across the valley.
People choose the tour for different reasons. Some simply cannot take two weeks away from work or other commitments. Others would prefer to avoid the physical demands of a multi-day high-altitude trek. Some have trekked to Everest Base Camp before and want to revisit the region without repeating the entire route. For travelers in any of these situations, a helicopter flight offers a shorter way to experience the Everest landscape.
For travelers who can't spend two weeks trekking, the helicopter tour offers spectacular views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam without the weeks of walking the classic trek requires. It can also work well for travelers who are unable to complete a multi-day trek at altitude, though anyone with a heart, lung, or other health condition should check with a doctor before flying to high altitude.

The cheapest option, Group Joining, is a scenic flyover only, it doesn't land anywhere or stop for breakfast, which is why it costs less. If getting out of the helicopter at Kala Patthar and eating breakfast with Everest in view matters to you, you'll want one of the landing packages instead.
On top of the tour price, budget for permits and airport tax separately unless your package already covers them. That's roughly USD 44 in park and municipality permits, plus about USD 7 in combined Tribhuvan International and Lukla airport tax, around USD 51 per person in total. We'll always confirm exactly what's included before you pay a deposit. If you'd rather stretch the trip out with a night at Hotel Everest View instead of flying straight back, ask, it's arranged as a separate private booking.
Booking is open for 2026, 2027, and 2028 at confirmed rates, and confirmation on a helicopter seat is instant once your deposit clears. Flights run year-round, through both the main season and the quieter off-season months.
For group joining departures, we recommend building in 2 to 3 spare days around your planned tour date. If the weather doesn't cooperate on the scheduled morning, those spare days give the trip somewhere to land instead of forcing a rebooking scramble. If a flight is cancelled outright due to weather, you get a full refund or we move you to the next available date at no extra service charge, whichever you'd rather have. Times shift a little with weather, season, and which package you're on, this is the typical shape of the day rather than a fixed schedule.
If you're already partway through a trek, you don't have to fly the whole loop from Kathmandu. Our Hop On and Hop Off service lets you join or leave the helicopter at Lukla, Pheriche, Namche or a handful of other points along the route. It's popular with people who walked in but would rather not walk back out, or who need to exit the Khumbu on short notice. Tell us where you are and we'll build the routing around it, pricing is set per route since every combination is different.
Clear-day visibility usually gets you Everest at 8,848.86 m, Lhotse at 8,516 m, Nuptse at 7,861 m, Cho Oyu at 8,201 m, Ama Dablam at 6,856 m, Pumori at 7,165 m, and Thamserku at 6,608 m. On the way there and back you'll cross the Kathmandu Valley, Bhaktapur, Nagarkot, Lukla's cliffside airstrip, Namche Bazaar, and Tengboche Monastery.
Cloud cover can and does block views, particularly outside the two main seasons, which is one reason we push people toward spring or autumn dates.
The flight passes over the Kathmandu Valley, Bhaktapur and Nagarkot, forested mid-hill ridgelines, Lukla's Tenzing–Hillary Airport, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche Monastery, and the Khumbu Glacier. On a clear day you'll see some of the world's highest peaks: Mount Everest (8,848.86 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Nuptse (7,861 m), Cho Oyu (8,201 m), Ama Dablam (6,856 m), Pumori (7,165 m), and Thamserku (6,608 m).
Kala Patthar is the usual landing point on the Everest Base Camp helicopter tour, and it offers a broad view of Mount Everest and the surrounding peaks. Everest Base Camp lies lower in the Khumbu Valley, with Nuptse and other mountains rising around it. From Kala Patthar, the view opens across the valley and gives you a clearer perspective of Everest's summit, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Pumori.
A helicopter landing at Everest Base Camp can sometimes be arranged, although it depends on the conditions on the day of the flight. Air traffic, the season, weather, and activity around the expedition area can all affect whether a landing is permitted. During the spring climbing season, increased expedition activity around Base Camp can make direct landings more difficult to arrange. If landing at Base Camp is important to you, let us know when you make your inquiry. We can check the possibilities for your travel date instead of promising a landing that may not be available. A flyover option without a landing is also available.
The two stops offer different experiences. Kala Patthar puts you at a much higher elevation with a wide mountain panorama, while Hotel Everest View provides a more relaxed setting at Syangboche. After the high-altitude stop at Kala Patthar, the breakfast break at the hotel gives you time to sit down, enjoy the mountain views, and take a break before the flight back to Kathmandu.
Syangboche, 3,962 meters, panoramic Khumbu views from the dining room. Hotel Everest View holds the Guinness World Record as the highest-placed hotel on Earth, first recognized in 2004. It's a strange thing to eat breakfast with Everest sitting in the window, and most guests say it's the part of the trip they didn't expect to remember most.

Season matters more for this tour than almost anything else you'll decide, since the entire point is the view, and cloud cover can take that away regardless of how good the pilot is.

Season |
Conditions |
|
Spring, March to May |
Generally stable mornings. Overlaps with the main climbing season, so you may spot expedition teams at Base Camp. Book early, seats go fast. |
|
Autumn, September to November |
The clearest stretch of the year, October especially. Also the busiest. |
|
Winter, December to February |
Cold, but the air is often exceptionally clear if you don't mind a chillier landing stop. |
|
Monsoon, June to mid-September |
We'd steer most people away from this window. Cloud and rain make delays and cancellations far more common than any other time of year. |
One caveat worth being upfront about: if you have a heart condition, a lung condition, or anything else altitude could complicate, talk to your doctor before booking. Short ground time helps, but it doesn't remove the risk entirely.

The tour operates under Nepal Civil Aviation Authority, CAAN, standards from start to finish:
Mountain weather turns quickly, and these flights only go up in clear, stable conditions. A shortened route or a pilot's call to turn back isn't a sign something went wrong, it's the system working the way it's supposed to.
If the flight is cancelled:
A 30% deposit locks in your booking. Pay the rest on arrival in Kathmandu, or earlier if you'd rather, by card, bank transfer, or our online payment system, cards carry a 4% processing charge, or cash and cheque once you're in Kathmandu.
This isn't a trekking kit, a small daypack covers it.
Leave your trekking gear at the hotel. Carry-on is capped at 5 kg per person, and there's genuinely no use for a full pack on a one-day flight.
Trekking through the Nepal Himalayas isn't just about reaching a viewpoint. It's walking through Sherpa villages, watching prayer flags snap in the wind, and seeing valleys open up into some of the highest peaks on earth. From the classic trails of the Everest and Annapurna regions to quieter routes through Manaslu and Mustang, every trek here has its own rhythm and its own story.
Whether you're crossing a high mountain pass at sunrise, sharing dal bhat with a teahouse family, or just taking in the silence above the tree line, trekking in the Himalayas has a way of staying with you long after you're back home.

We run treks across Nepal's major trekking regions, from short acclimatization hikes to full high altitude circuits. Each itinerary is built to get you safely to the highlight viewpoints and passes, and we're happy to adjust the pace, duration, or route to fit what you're after.

Starting at USD 1,290 per person for a shared Group Joining seat, up to USD 5,890 for a full private charter. Permits and airport tax add roughly USD 51 per person on top.
About 4 to 5 hours, start to finish, breakfast stop included on landing packages.
Not always. Kala Patthar is the standard landing point, and it's arguably the better view. A Base Camp landing depends on the day, season, and air traffic.
Yes, on any of the landing packages. It's the highest point most travelers on this tour will ever stand on.
It's included on the landing packages. On the base Group Joining option, it isn't, check your specific package before booking if this matters to you.
As safe as this kind of flying gets. CAAN-licensed pilots who know this specific route, modern aircraft under regular maintenance, and flights that simply don't go up in bad weather.
Full refund, no conditions attached. Non-weather cancellations are handled differently, see the cancellation policy above.
October, generally, followed by the rest of autumn and spring. Monsoon months, June through mid-September, are the ones to avoid.
Usually yes, since there's no trail or acclimatization schedule involved. Worth checking with us on age minimums for your specific dates.
Yes, in most cases, this is actually one of the tour's main draws. Anyone with a serious health condition should still get medical clearance first, altitude doesn't care how you got there.
No. This tour asks nothing of your fitness the way the trek does.
Warm layers, sunglasses, sunscreen, your passport, some cash, and a charged camera. Full packing list above.
Both, depending on which package you book. Group Joining and Group Sharing are shared seats, the Private Charter is exclusive to your party.
Yes, for 2 to 3 passengers per charter, with full control over timing and stops.
Depends what you're after. If seeing Everest up close matters more than the walk itself, or you genuinely don't have two weeks, yes. If the trail, the villages, and the slow climb to altitude are the actual draw, the trek will give you something this flight can't.
Half a dozen operators in Kathmandu can put you on this same flight. What actually differs between them is less visible, how they handle a weather delay, whether the price you're quoted is the price you pay, whether someone tells you honestly that a Base Camp landing isn't likely on your dates instead of promising it to close the sale.
We've run treks across most of the major routes in this region, Everest Base Camp, Annapurna, Manaslu, Langtang, so this isn't a side business bolted onto a travel agency. Deposits are 30%, quoted prices don't grow surprise line items later, and weather cancellations are refunded in full, not offered as store credit or a "we'll try to reschedule."
Spring and autumn seats go quickly. Message us on WhatsApp at +977 9841044334 with your dates, group size, and which option you're leaning toward, Group Joining, Kala Patthar Landing, or Private Charter, and we'll tell you what's actually available and what it'll cost.
Times are approximate. Weather, airport operations, air traffic, and landing conditions can change the schedule on the day.

|
|
|
|
|

For more stories, trip reports, and planning tips from the trail, visit our Nepal Himalayas Blog page. It has everything you need to start planning your own Himalayan adventure.
We run treks across Nepal's major trekking regions, from short acclimatization hikes to full high altitude circuits. Each itinerary is built to get you safely to the highlight viewpoints and passes, and we're happy to adjust the pace, duration, or route to fit what you're after.
- [Everest Base Camp Trek – 14 Days]
- [Annapurna Circuit Trek]
- [Manaslu Circuit Trek]
- [Upper Mustang Trek]

Definitely, one of the best experiences of my life was the Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour back in May month of 2022. My holiday in Nepal was almost at an end but I had still not visited the crown jewel of trekking in Nepal, the Everest Base Camp. Upon consulting with my friends who had been to the Khumbu region before, they recommended exploring Everest via a helicopter tour.
I must admit I was a bit skeptical at first regarding whether I would be have the same enjoyment and experience from a chopper as I did from trekking. But this doubt was soon cleared as this trip turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life. Nepal Himalayas Trekking owner (Mr. Prakash) responded super quick and arranged a flight for me. I was able to enjoy the pristine beauty of the Everest region without a worry in the world as Nepal Himalayas Trekking agency took care of everything impeccably. I would certainly recommend them for anyone thinking of touring via Heli in Nepal.
See you soon

Recently we have the great opportunity to take a helicopter tour of the Everest region with Nepal Himalayas Trekking. It was an incredible experience. The view from the Everest View Hotel was truly breathtaking - Everyone was able to see for miles in every direction, and the panoramic views of the mountain range were simply awe-inspiring. Our trip with Nepal Himalayas Trekking on the Everest Base Camp helicopter tour was beyond all expectations amazing. We have visited more than 20 Countries for different kinds of activities. But in Nepal, this 1 Day Adventure journey was a life-changing experience that will always be woven into the fabric of our hearts and mind. From the Kala Patthar point of the helicopter, We saw an amazing & incredible view of mountains with royal peaks that seemed to reach for the sky. The sheer beauty of nature's masterpiece left an indelible mark on our minds, and each moment unfolded before my amazed eyes like a vivid picture.
Not only that. As we flew through the air, we were excited, but when we landed at the luxurious Hotel Everest View at Syangboche, we were calm again. There, in the middle of the clouds, we ate a delicious breakfast with a Fabulous view of the Top Of the world. It was a feast for the senses that fed both the body and the spirit. The Himalayan giant stood guard in silence, inspiring awe and respect.
We would like to say great thanks to Nepal Himalayas Trekking from the bottom of our hearts for putting together this amazing trip, where dreams came true and the majesty of Everest became a treasured partner on an unforgettable journey.
You are the perfect tour operator & trip organizer in Nepal. We have lots of love. Missing lots. Probably all our German friends will copy our trip.

Our Everest Base Camp Charter flight was perfectly worth it because we choose Nepal Himalayas Trekking.
There are lots of travel agencies in the street of Thamel Kathmandu, Nepal but I am glad that we choose the Nepal Himalayas Trekking Company.
Mr. Prakash, the owner of Nepal Himalayas Trekking, was very responsive to all of our queries during the planning stage of our trip. He provided a customized itinerary suitable for our group and accommodated changes along the way. This tour company/tour operator only required a 30% downpayment for the tour sent via wire transfer, which was not bad. They did not immediately collect the remaining balance on the first day; hence, they asked for it when all of the activities for the tour were done.
Staffs are very nice and accommodating. They guided us all throughout our stay in Nepal. We enjoyed the Everest Base Camp Helicopter tour. We were assigned to a very experienced and calm pilot from Manang Air. Our Guide or owner Mr. Prakash was right when we stayed for breakfast at Kongde Yeti Mountain Home as it provided a spectacular view of the Himalayan mountains. Mr. Prakash surely knew the best spots in some of Kathmandu's iconic places. He was patient and always smiled.
The complimentary Nepalese dinner with the cultural show during our last night in Kathmandu was perfect to end our unforgettable trip to Nepal.
We would definitely consider with Nepal Himalayas Trekking in our future trips to Everest Base Camp Trek & Manaslu Circuit Trek.

After my Gratued, I & my boyfriend travel to Nepal. On the Street in Thamel, we found the Nepal Himalayas Trekking Company, which is operating many kinds of activities including the Everest Base Camp Helicopter tour. Because of a short vacation, we have decided to go on this Everest Base Camp Helicopter Charter tour with this company. They offered affordable cost. We are really happy to get such an incredible 1-day adventure tour in Nepal.
Our trip was fantastic because of the good organizer, suitable Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour cost including fabulous weather. This time we did the Majestic Everest Helicopter tour. For sure, next time we will try to go Everest Base Camp Trek by walking from Lukla Airport.
We are a group from Germany, and in September 2023, we had the privilege of embarking on the Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour with Nepal Himalayas Trekking Company. This experience was nothing short of extraordinary!
From the very beginning, the service provided by the company was flawless. Mr. Prakash, the owner, ensured that every aspect of the tour was well-organized and seamless. His professionalism and personal attention made us feel confident and cared for throughout the entire journey. He went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and ensure we had a memorable experience.
The helicopter ride itself was breathtaking. Flying over the majestic peaks of the Himalayas and landing at Everest Base Camp was an experience we will never forget. The views were absolutely stunning – from the snow-capped peaks to the serene valleys below. The pilot was highly skilled, and we felt completely safe the entire time.
One of the highlights was the stop at Kalapathar, where we got an up-close view of Mount Everest. Standing at such a high altitude and witnessing the grandeur of the world’s tallest mountain was truly humbling. The helicopter tour allowed us to experience the beauty of the Himalayas in a way that trekking alone cannot offer.
Nepal Himalayas Trekking Company, under the leadership of Mr. Prakash, provided impeccable service, from start to finish. We are grateful for their hospitality and for making this dream trip a reality. For anyone considering an Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour, we cannot recommend this company highly enough!
Thank you, Mr. Prakash, and your team, for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure!
